Where do I start? yes I know, that The Surge 2 is 1000% improvement from the surge 1 with everything. Best souls-like game for me.
The story is a nice and beautiful sequel to the previous game it's not a wow but acceptable ( Rating 8/10), but what I loved is that you play with a complete new caricature and that's wonderful, why you say? Its because you can create your own caricature from the start of the game all the face feature, cloth, hair, eyes, and age you can play as your OWN GRANDMOTHER and more everything make it unique to suit your customization needs that what I did. (Rating this as 9/10)
The size of the map is small but it did not affect the game, I have a gut feeling there will be DLC's to expand on that map in the near future. (Rating 8/10)
The graphics of the caricature and NPC were disappointing it did not feel right at all you know something is off when you play as many games as me but it was okay for an indie game, even when I am seeing some indie games have amazing caricature graphics its just a disappointment. (Rating 7/10)
Now the graphics of the whole game was also okay but not a wow nothing amazing but sufficient, I personally had like this weird high brightness like a glow all the time it felt like they ware covering for the low city texture graphics, not sure but I am seeing this with a lot of other games, it might be my monitor or something else tried adjusting it but nothing helped, however, it did not annoy or stop me from enjoying the game just wanted to point that out. (Rating 8/10)
The cutscene graphics are really good no problem with them at all but there are very little of them (Rating 9/10)
The mechanics OMG it's a wow loved this its where the game excels it just made it 1000% better from the first game extremely easy to use, I loved how you can collect gears piece by piece by dismembering enemies, then upgrading each piece you like to make a full set of armored gear and there are a lot of gear very satisfying to get. Love the crazy amount of weapons you can get an upgrade, but with that all I found my self sticking to only 3 types of armors gears and 2 types of weapons they ware the best in the game made the game look like a piece of cake if you know the right gear and weapons to equip. (Rating 9/10)
Now the combat system is freaking enjoyable best that I have ever played, amazing melee combat it does take a little time to get used to it but when you do you will be on fire unstoppable, loved how you chop every body part you need to get that gear parts from the enemies with the crazy satisfying dismemberment animation. this is a souls-like game you will have never-ending enemies to train on and dismember (Rating 10/10)
There is one more this the blocking of attacks system in this game its great you definitely need to know how to use it because there are bosses that will be impossible to defeat if you don't know how to block, Just practice a lot and you will get the hang of it, most important always keep and equip implant that will show you the direction the enemies will hit it helps a lot you will find that implant at the beginning of the game (Rating 10/10)
There is a lot of drones that you will get throughout the game I did not use them all a lot, but the ones I used the most is the loot scanner drone great to find hidden loot everywhere and the banner drone that places a banner image of you where ever you place it this will give you a lot of loot make sure you hide that banner from everyone as more time goes by and no one finds it you will get more loot a lot of loot easy money, I did see also some streamers use implants to enhance their weapon drones to be extremely powerful weapons it depends how you want to play the game. (Rating 10/10)
The bosses there are few not a lot of them, some are extremely difficult but satisfying and challenging when you defeat them just make sure you upgrade your gears and weapons before entering a big fight, there is also a lot of different enemies with challenging difficulties those I believe are the core of the game not the bosses (Rating 9/10)
Overall game performance, was great no major problems, I did get like 2 crashes but when I started the game it placed me in the exact same point I was in when the crashed happened with no items lost what so ever so that is good in my opinion. no major FPS drops still stable all through the game did not experience any lag. (Rating 9/10)
To conclude this I do recommend this game to all (soul-like) lover and even if you never tried this type of genre you will love it (Final Rating 9/10)
